Jimma university in ethiopia-dental school -reg?
Namaste Jhi,
I'm an Ethiopian that happened to have studied in India.
To answer your questions:
- Jimma is the capital of the coffee homeland province of Keffa.
- Jimma University is one of the biggest universities in Ethiopia.
- You have nothing to be afraid of with regards to safety in Ethiopia. There are literally hundreds of university lectures from India in Ethiopia. To confirm that, either email your embassy here in Addis Ababa or search for lecturers here in Addis Ababa University and/or Unity University College. (They are the highest importers of Indian lecturers in Ethiopia.)
- You don't have to worry about vegetarianism because vegetables are abundant thorugh out the country. There are also Indian restaurants in the capital. (Am not sure about Jimma.)
- If free housing is provided then you have nothing to worry about, since the highest expense we pay here in Ethiopia is rent.
- I have a friend who happens to be lecturer in Jimma and he's here in Addis almost half of the time. I mean that if you find the social and or clubbing life a bit dull in Jimma you can always hop on a public transport to the capital for some fun.
- The image of us being poor is what we are trying to change. We have the fastest growing economy in sub-sharan Africa.
So, please do not be worried about coming here. There are a lot of your compatriots here working in various organisations. And besides, Ethiopians are one of the most hospitable people in the world. We respect our guests. Email me if you need any specific details.
Wishing you good luck in your endeavours,
Cheers !
Reply:To add on what Ethio ... said
-don't worry about safety
-meat is hardly eaten here(it's considered a rich person's diet) but it's liked by a lot of Ethiopians
-about social life, foreigners are respected here(though they get stared at sometimes)...but I think since u r an Indian(ur color matches that of Ethiopians') u'll do fine and u won't get stared at ........and u won't have trouble makin' friends since Ethiopians are very welcomin' people
-and one more thing, Ethiopia isn't that poor!
hope I helped
