I have a 2.00 gpa and am in my 2nd semester of my sophmore year of college. This semster I know I will recieve straight A's until I graduate because I have definately started studying harder. With this, is there any chance I can still get into dental school? If yes, what can I do to improve my chances?
Can I get into Dental School?
Yes, you have a very slim shot, but theoretically possible. My friend made it to NYU dental school with just under a 3.0, so I know 3.0 is possible (not normally, but he did some other things to help make up for it). Now, understand that while NYU is normally an awesome school, their dental schools is apparently ranked REALLY low for some reason. If you get a 4.0 the rest of your way through the end of junior year, you can get a 3.0 and have a shot.
So, you need to make up for that poor GPA. In addition to the straight A's, you'll need to score a REALLY high score on the DAT, and do a whole bunch of nice extra curriculars. Then, start applying to a TON of dental schools.
Now, theoretically, this is possible to do. Just realize, it's going to be HARD, especially since your body and mind have been so used to doing squat for so long.
