Alcohol in dental school class?

If a person likes to have a few shots of vodka in some lemonade disguised in a water bottle in dental school only for their 8am class...then they have no more for the rest of the day except occasionally in teh evening... is there anyting wrong with that? No addiction, just likes to have a few shots first thing in the AM.

Alcohol in dental school class?
Hmmm I know this sounds weird but your "friend" could be an Alcoholic... an Alcoholic is not based on how much you drink or how often you drink but how much "your friend" changes.

Does this couple of shots in the morning make your friend more happy? upbeat? angry?

Its not good to be getting stuck into drugs before school anyway (yes alcohol is a drug)

I think you need to have a talk with your friend

and really find out why they drink in the morning.
Reply:This is not okay. If you love your friend, you'll encourage her to seek therapy. This is a red flag for alcoholism, drinking in the morning by habit to soften reality. No matter what your friend thinks, she is abusing alcohol and absenting herself form her own life. Please encourage her to talk to someone.

Keeping it from her husband and disguising it in the water bottle show she knows it isn't normal or okay. It is likely that these subterfuges are not fooling anyone, or won't fool anyone much longer. Help her before she makes a mess of her career, her marriage, her life.

Therapy can also help her find out why she isn't relaxed in the morning or in the school environment, and will help her deal with whatever is preventing her from being in the world fully conscious.

You can help her find healthy ways to relax, too. Maybe you can help her by signing up for a morning exercise class together (or run in the mornings together) or by getting her a relaxation audio to listen to. (Check out Glen Harold on audible.com for something to listen to on her iPod with relaxation/hypnosis exercises.)
