Hi.. I'm applying to a dental school... was wondering does anybody know what a manual dexterity test is??
Isn't that interesting. In the olden days, the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) had a manual dexterity section on it, but they discontinues it about 25 years ago. It consisted of carving a piece of chalk to prescribed dimensions. They dropped it because it was difficult to administer and grade and it was also discovered that there was a high correlation between manual dexterity and the spatial relations sections of the test.

Maybe your particular dental school doesn't agree with the DAT and has chosen to implement their own chalk-carving test. If this is what it is all about, they will provide everything you need - unless they specified otherwise. Be comfortable. If you wear corrective glasses, be sure to have them with you for the test!

Saying it's "three hours long" probably just means that you will be limited to three hours - not necessarily that it will take an entire three hours.
Reply:Word of advice... If it IS a chalk carving, don't set it down when you are done. Mine rolled onto the floor and broke! Report It

Reply:general ability in movement- for preschoolers it is tested by having them stack blocks
