I heard that dental schools can put braces on people for a lot cheaper price. Has anyone done this? How much did it cost you?
Has anyone got Braces put on by a Dental School?
Regardless of the cost, you have to be comfortable no matter who works on your mouth. It may have been a successful therapy for one person, but not someone else. Your mouth is like a fingerprint: no one else has the same teeth as you do.
You get what you pay for, bottom line. Do you really want to skimp and save on your teeth, mouth, and health? Orthodontic therapy is an investment in yourself. Think about how much money you spend on "extras" and consider why you haven't dedicated some of that money towards your oral health.
Look around at all the options available to you in your area. Perhaps there's an orthodontist who will work with you financially. Go to the dental school and ask questions prior to committing to any treatment. Schedule consult appointments with ortho dentists to see exactly how they'd treat your case. Research and patience are needed. Good luck!
Reply:I have put braces on patients during dental school. I believe the cost was around $2k. More complex patients were treated by graduate students specializing in orthodontics. It's a really good price if you can have them done at a dental school. At my dental school, there were two orthodontists that guided most of the treatment. One practiced part time and the other was recently retired. I wouldn't hesitate to use a dental school for orthodontics if you can because you get good work done (a lot better than some orthodontic work done in private practice...).
Reply:Yes ,My daughter ,At UCLA . Any med school. one third the price, and xlnt work.
