I really would like to get into physical therapy, occupational therapy, or dental school whenever I complete my bachelor's degree, however I do not want to major in biology or the hard sciences because I would not be able to get many jobs with a bachelor's degree in those majors. I have been told that I can complete any major and get the requirements. I want to know if this route will take longer or be a little harder because I would have to satisfy grad school requirements and my bachelor's degree requirements. Anyone out there that have actually did this, anyone know anything about this route. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Can I major in education and fulfill requirements for entry into occupational therapy school or dental school?
I would talk to an academic advisor at your college FOR THIS REASON: They can show you in black and white what's needed. You don't have to take the word of several people. Remember, academic advisors do advising every day.
Reply:Occupational/Physical therapy and Dentistry are basically "science" majors. One reason why I took up PT (physical therapy) is to rid myself of maths. I did avoid maths but theres no getting away from Biology. From junior year up its 90% science. In case you may want to acquire a PT/OT/Dentistry masters you'd still have to take lacking undergraduate prerequisite subjects and those would be the science they don't offer in an Education undergrad major. Yup, doing it that way is longer and costlier. I suggest you go right ahead OT/PT or Dentistry from the start.
