Dental School???

I am a junior and a very difficult private school and I have a 3.41 GPA. I am scheduled to take the DAT in April and I have tons of community service hours. I also did research at our university hospital (where the dental school is) on cancer biology and it was a blast. The question I have is one about my GPA. Is a 3.41 GPA way too low to be accepted into dental school or do you think I could get in somewhere? Thanks in advance for any info!!!

Reply:You wouldn't know until you try. Certain school are much easier to get in than others.

Is research a good thing to do? Should I be involved in lots of things?
Reply:Depending on the competition, which you have no control over, you should be okay. Do well on the DAT and the interview will be important as well.
Reply:I am sure you could get in somewhere. A 3.41 GPA is good. I would start looking around at schools, call them and ask questions. That is the best thing you can do, ask. ;)
Reply:Like you said you go to a difficult private school so any college will take that into account. They know all 3.41 GPA's are not the same.





Most of all I'll tell you what I tell my two high school age sons, follow your bliss. If this is what you want to do then pursue it with all of your might.





When colleges admit new students they try and look at the whole student. Do you have any community service under your belt? -any AP classes? -and of course what's your scores on the ACT and SAT tests?





Have you applied to any colleges yet? Personally I think you'll do fine. Let us know how you do on DAT's in April.
